SCALING AND POLISHING

WHAT TO DO AND NOT TO DO IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCALING AND POLISHING

  • Be careful about what you eat immediately after a scaling and polishing procedure. Avoid crunchy or tough edibles and also acidic foods like oranges for at least 36 hours.  This is because your gums and teeth will be extremely sensitive after the dental deep cleaning. Therefore, you must avoid certain foods that can disrupt the smooth healing process.
  • Expect that the discomfort that you’re feeling will last for a few more days. Which is perfectly normal. The gums are quite tender and therefore will be sensitive after the procedure.
  • Do not drink really hot beverages or eat hot food for at least another 48 hours after your scaling and polishing session.

One-third of your tooth, which is known as the root, is hidden beneath your gums. This is because there are many more teeth than meets the eye in every human’s mouth. When going for a scaling and polishing procedure, drop your fears and trust your dentist.
